I wrote You'd Smile when a dear friend of mine went to rehab. I was so sad that he was engaged in so much self-destruction and just couldn't get him and his situation off my mind. The words, 'If you could only see you like I do, you'd smile' came to me one evening when I was making dinner and thinking about him. I went over, picked up my guitar ... and, wa -la- You'd Smile was born. As the song progressed, I started thinking about how God or our Higher Power sees each one of us - so, it's taken on a broader meaning for me. Imagine if we could see ourselves like the ones who love us do. I know I'd be kinder and more gentle with me, for sure. What about you?
